He will contest injustices to the bitter end – there is no submission, no give or take. He is hard to live with – unpredictable and entertaining in ways you never imagined a dog could be. They lose interest quickly once they have mastered a technique; they enjoy making others happy (a good dog trait), but his determination to liven up the action often has unwanted and unwarranted outcomes. He is an alert dog – his first thought is for your safety. However should his attempts at ‘rescuing you’ from a seemingly unsalvageable situation or an imagined burglar frustrate the hell out of you, just remember, he has your interest at heart. They are great guard dogs and might even like the show ring (needs to be well informed about expectations though)...Very loyal. A typical ‘when the going gets tough, the tough get going”.
They are bad vet patients. Don’t even imagine you can pill him — he is miles ahead of cats in deviousness. He is the classic poorly dog until he arrives at the vet clinic when he will beam with health and promptly collapse in your car when you arrive home. Training at an early age pays dividends, logic rules Arieans.
Do explain the practicalities of life when a puppy; keep him on lead when out walking, when going to the vet make a detour to maintain the surprise factor.

THE ARIES CAT
Ariean cats – move fast! Both their physical and mental processes are hurried. This is especially apparent in the planning stage; how they survived in the wild is anybody’s guess, but is not a defeatist attitude that is their downfall. If at first they don’t succeed, try, try and try again, each time going that extra mile to claim victory. Their efforts will not go unnoticed. He is really trying to please you and should you scold him for his off-the mark efforts he will disappear – and then the guilt starts in. Searching the neighbourhood, becoming frantic with worry, you finally stagger back at midnight, exhausted. He is curled up on your bed with a buddy of his. Your sense of humour must prevail if you are to be rewarded with the charm and affection of your Ariean cat. Should you loose your cool, his humiliation turns into a hissing spitting ball of fur. It won’t last long. Like his sex life, the fast lane is fraught with doing it ‘his’ way. Such rash behaviour will inevitably lead to disaster, but short of incurring huge vet bills, it’s best to let him have his way. Your sense of prevention-is-better-than-cure will find you closing all the house doors and windows including the cat door, every time you leave.
Never ridicule him, every effort he makes is one of brilliant planning. Don’t ever expect to find him where you think he should be.
Aries Health Problems: Watch for colds.
