The Ageing Animal

If your dog or cat shows signs of ageing and ‘losing the plot’ have them health-checked first; diabetes, urinary tract infections and some endocrine disorders can give rise to similar symptom pictures. THESE AILMENTS can still be treated ensuring your pet maintains the quality of life YOU expect without prolonging life as a chronic sufferer.

AGEING SIGNS
Confusion — forgetting which is inside / outside, getting stuck in corners, staring at walls, disinterest in surroundings.
Returning to the food bowl for ‘another’ meal just after their last one, sudden peculiar changes in food preferences, eating of indigestible things.
Losing balance, falling.
Pacing at night, sleeping excessively during the day, wandering.
Forgetting their commands or routines.
Vocalising for no apparent reason.

A change in interaction with family, absence of displays of affection or recognition, aggression or moody swings, resentment of touch or familiarity.
Inappropriate toileting habits or / and total shamelessness about these habits whereas before they would be private.
Forgetting personal hygiene, (leaving toileting uncovered in the litter tray, no face or genital cleaning esp. after meals / toileting, coat grooming ignored).
