Although the Light Therapy has been used to speed up post operative soft tissue repair it has been demonstrated to also relieve chronic pain and increase mobility in hip dysplasia, panosteitis, OCD and trauma injuries to the muscular skeletal system.
Its beneficial use for some deep tissue problems was clearly demonstrated in the case study of Benson, a 12 year old Long Haired Dachshund. Benson had prostate cancer and was unable to pass urine. Catheterisation was carried out on an almost daily basis.
The Bioptron Light was used over the region of the prostate each time Benson was catheterised. Following two weeks of treatment, Benson began to pass small amounts of urine but still required catheterisation every 3rd – 4th day. Light treatment was given every 3rd day for 6 weeks at which time Benson regained complete control of his passage of urine and did not require medical intervention. The intermittent hematuria also cleared completely. The dog’s overall health improved dramatically, from lethargic and unable to walk, to running down into the sea for a swim. See last months Case Studies.
NB: Benson’s owner was treated for Rotator Cuff and ‘frozen’ shoulder problems for which she was receiving on-going medical treatment. Her pain-free movement at the end of her 6 week session was remarkable.
